Newspaper Staff Meeting

This is Week Twenty-Four

Description of the Lesson:  The Third - Fifth Grade students will be working with the software program "Microsoft FrontPage" to continue work on designing their personal web page.  The students will

• open a template file

•  save it to their disks,

• open the saved file

• make personal changes in color

• make personal changes in font

• add information to the page

• save the new web page

• export the new page to their student disk

The web pages they create will be edited and then linked from their classroom web page.

* If their parents have signed and returned the proper permission slip.

**New permission slips will be sent home with students still needing one on in the technology lab.

Kindergarten Enrichment:  Students will visit a the Sears Portrait Studio Web Site.  They will be working on a Valentine they can take home to their parents titled, "Wee Little Valentine."  They will work on a second Valentine titled, A Valentine From Your Loving Wee Little One."

 First Grade Enrichment:  The students will be using the web site, Sears Portrait Studio, to create a Valentine's Story they can take home and share with their parents.  The story is titled, "Valentine From The Heart."  The students will then work on a story titled, "Valentine's Day Scavenger Hunt."

Second Grade Enrichment:  The students will be using the web site, Sears Portrait Studio, to create a Valentine's Story they can take home and share with their parents.  The story is titled, "Valentine's Day Scavenger Hunt."  The students will then work on a story titled, "A Valentine Mystery."

Third - Fifth Grade Enrichment:  The students will be using the web site, Sears Portrait Studio, to create a Valentine's Story they can take home and share with their parents.  The story is titled, "A Valentine Mystery."  They will also work on finishing touches of their web pages and work on adding graphics to their pages to make them special and different from the regular web pages.

News Crew Staff Meeting:  We will view and evaluate the morning news.  We will discuss writing commercials for the news that we can show on the closed circuit network to promote the School News Show.  We will also discuss possibly coming up with a new name for the show.

 Newspaper Staff Meeting:  We will discuss stories that are happening around the school.  We will view a sample printout of a newsletter format and choose the layout we want to use for our paper.

Yearbook Staff Meeting:  The staff will be going around to the classrooms selling our Valentine's Day Friendship Cards this week.  They will go to their assigned grade level classrooms and take orders for the cards.  They will also deliver the cards on Friday.
