This is Week Twenty-Seven

heartsDescription of the Lesson:  This week is a lesson evaluation.  The students will be taking an on-line survey to evaluate the unit of study just completed, Real Journeys in Technology: FutureKids Unit One - Log On.  They will take the survey by clicking on the web link below:

SECOND GRADE  

 

This survey will ask for their ability to conduct the skills taught in the unit on a scale of 1 (can do alone), 2 (need help), or 3 (not very good at).  Students will then be asked to select the technology areas used for the unit.  Each student will give an open-response about why they liked the unit.  Next, they will click the activities they liked the best during the unit of study.  This will be followed by selecting the one activity that was the hardest to do and then the one activity that was the easiest to do during the unit.  Each student will also click in a down menu to select their grade level and give a short answer for their teacher's name.  The last two questions will show if they attend either a technology enrichment class or the after school program.

    Once the students have completed the survey, they will have time to explore and enjoy educational games found within the web site Gamequarium.com.  This site has a wide variety of educational games from varied curricular areas.  They will get to the web site by clicking below:

They will visit this site and practice with:  ABC, 123, Colors, Shapes, Time, or Money.  These activities are set up for Pre-K through grades 2.

 

heartsMaterials:  The students will be taking the survey and exploring educational games this week using an Internet web browser.

  • Launch the Internet web browser we will be using for class today

  • Maximize the screen

  • Navigate the web sites

  • Exit a program

  • Reopen the Internet web browser

heartsKindergarten - First Enrichment:  Students will complete their work with the Kidspiration Program on creating an ABC Chart with picture representations for each letter of the alphabet.

heartsSecond  - Third Grade Enrichment:  The students will be working with Typing Master to practice their touch typing skills.  They will be working with the lesson "Sentence Drill."  The sentence drill is a touch typing test to check for improvement in accuracy and speed.  It will give them a current "words-per-minute" score.  The time remaining will be spent continuing to working on their comparison lesson with Kidspiration.

heartsFourth - Fifth Grade Enrichment:  The students will be working on final editing changes to their personal web page.  They may choose to add graphics or animation to their page.  The students will then load their page to their class web page.  The time remaining will be spent working on the web site, FunIsland.com.  They may choose from a number of educational games on the site for skills review and practice.

heartsNews Crew Staff Meeting:  We will check the homework assignments students have been working on for the past two weeks (commercials).  We will go to the technology lab and type their commercials as a word document.  These will then be printed out so that the students can read the work of other students in their group.

 heartsNewspaper Staff Meeting:  Students will share the stories they are working on for their grade level assignment.  We will look at sample layouts and discuss a story board for the paper.
