**New permission slips will be sent home with students still needing one on in the technology lab.

Kindergarten - First Enrichment:  Students will complete their work on with the Kidspiration Program and creating an ABC Chart with picture representations for each letter of the alphabet.

Second  - Third Grade Enrichment:  The lesson for today will begin with Lesson 1.6 "Clouds Game" and Lesson 1.7 "Sentence Drill".  The sentence drill is a touch typing test to check for improvement in accuracy and speed.  It will give them a current "words-per-minute" score.  The time remaining will be spent working on the site, Gamequarium.com.  They will practice their money and time telling skills.

Fourth - Fifth Grade Enrichment:  The students will be working on final editing changes to their personal web page.  They may choose to add graphics or animation to their page.  The students will then load their page to their class web page.  The time remaining will be spent working on the web site, FunIsland.com.  They may choose from a number of educational games on the site for skills review and practice.

News Crew Staff Meeting:  (The News Crew did not get to meet last week due to some scheduling conflicts.)  We will check the progress of their homework assignment.  The students have been working on commercials.  We will go to the technology lab and type their commercials as a word document.  These will then be printed out so that the students can read the work of other students in their group.

Newspaper Staff Meeting:  The students will discuss key vocabulary terms that relate to a newspaper.  We will talk about each of the terms (AP, Assignment, Background, Banner, Beat, Byline, Copy, Cutline or Caption, Dateline, Deadline, Dummy, Editor, Editorial, Feature, Headline, Index, Jumpline, Lead, Logo, Masthead, Newsprint, Publisher, Reporter, Syndicated Features, Teaser, and Wire Photo).  We will also talk about the Newspsper Staff and the departments that exist in a newspaper business.

Students will also practice the role of Publisher and determine which department would be assigned a list of tasks.

The students will have a homework assignment to Find The Following In A Newspaper:

  • a page with stories, photos, and art

  • an advertisement

They can also choose to do a challenging activity - Find the name of the paper's publisher and/or editor-in-chief.
