This is Week Five

    This week will be a review of procedures for the lab.  Students will be reminded of the rules, consequences, and reward systems for the classroom.

    The students are introduced to basic text and graphics features of desktop publishing as they learn to move, resize, and delete frames while creating a cover page for the projects they will complete during the unit.  The pupils then learn more advanced text and graphics skills to enhance their cover pages.

    The cover pages will be saved to the students' individual disk as well as printed to place in their "Technology Portfolio" for congerences.

    The skills covered will include:

  • Discussion of the computer's desktop
  • Define icon
  • Discuss the mouse and its use
  • Define pointer
  • Start the Print Artist Program
  • Open a document using the icon "short to cover"
  • Define and discuss a template
  • Make suggested changes to the template
  • Define frames
  • Use the delete key
  • Review the colors yellow, purple, green, and blue
  • Compare desktop publishing page with a sheet of paper
  • Learn to center a frame on the page
  • Review "double-click"
  • Define cursor
  • Add text to a page
  • Define handles on a graphic
  • Resize a graphic
  • Change colors of text on a page
  • Create a new text frame
  • Resize and move a text frame
  • Define fonts
  • Change the text font
  • Define menu bar
  • Save a file
  • Print a file
  • Exit a program
