Teacher Training

Civil Air Patrol Teacher Training August 27, 2005

 

The staff at Langston participates in various types of training provided by NASA and National Teachers of Science Association.  The entire staff is visited through out the year by Steve Culivan, Regional Aerospace Educational Teacher Specialist and Sue Hawkins from, Arkansas Space Consortium Educational, who assisted in gathering needed materials and resources for activities and events.  Also visiting were Dr Scott Smith, Johnson Space Center's Nutritional Biochemistry Department, and Dr. Will Robertson, Regional Aerospace Educational Teacher Specialist.

                          

The Langston Explorer Team began their journey in July of 2003.  The team participated with four other teams at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL.  An intensive seven day training consisted of introductions in microgravity, robotics, rocketry, mock missions    .  The team had other opportunities through out the school year for additional professional development.  Some members attended the NTSA National Conference in Atlanta, the International Space Station Educators Conference in Houston, Technology Immersion Training at Langley Research Center in Virginia, Robotics at Jet Propulsion Laboratory  in California, and Flight Opportunities Training at Houston Space Center.
