Text Box: Centennial of Flight Celebration

On December 17, Langston students celebrated the Centennial of Flight.  Chopper 7 landed on the parking lot and Chopper Scott presented information on helicopters.  Students participated in a live audio hook-up with Steve Culivan of NASA, who was in Kitty Hawk for the recreation of the first flight.  Other events included hands-on flight activities, the Centennial of Flight Program, and balloon release. Each student released a balloon with information about Langston inside.  We are hoping to hear from people who find the balloons.  In the week prior to the celebration a variety of guest speakers made presentations about flight to every grade level.  First graders culminated the week with a trip to the airport.
