Dear Trojan Families,

Hot Springs School District families, get ready for another exciting week ahead! January 12–16 is packed with great moments across our schools, including a full slate of athletic competitions, special awards ceremonies celebrating student achievements, and two spelling bees at Hot Springs Junior Academy and Langston Elementary. We’ll wrap up the week with our second Read with Troy event on Friday, January 16 — a fun and meaningful way to bring reading and school spirit together. We look forward to seeing our families out and about as we celebrate our students and all they are accomplishing.

Spelling Bee Schedule

Last year, the Garland County Spelling Bee winner was our very own Demetri Burdick from the Hot Springs Junior Academy. And, Caleb McCann from the Junior Academy and Antwon Luker from Main Street tied for third/fourth. We are excited to see who will be the 2026 winners.

Here is the 2026 schedule:

Jan. 14 - Junior Academy - 9:30 am

Jan. 15 - Langston Elementary - 9 am

Congratulations to last week's winners:

Oaklawn STEM - Thomas Deane, Liam Hathcoat, and Jonathan Peek

The Garland County Spelling Bee is February 25.

The Second Read With Troy Event is Friday

We are excited to bring back Read With Troy during the halftime of the Varsity Boys Basketball games on select dates in January and February. All elementary students are invited to the hospitality room of the Trojan Arena for a short read-aloud and treat. Just follow the Read With Troy signs at the start of halftime.
